Excerpt:

It was a great big sign, right across the road, where Katie came out from school. There were more signs on every tree all the way home:

THE GREAT YACKANDANDAH BILLY CART RACE:
9:00, SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 9th.

"That's tomorrow!" Katie thought. She pedalled home as fast as she could. Mark and Matt were in the kitchen. Their school bags were on the floor and their heads were in the fridge.

"Guess what?" she said.

"We're busy, Kate," Mark said.

"Got to build a billy cart," said Matt.

They ran out to the shed.

"Can I help?" Katie asked.

"Maybe," said Mark.

"If you don't bother us," said Matt.
