When Bad Martha was born she cried so loud and so long, and got so red and so angry and so ugly, that all the other mothers in the hospital said, "We can't have our babies in here with all that noise!"

And all the other mothers and babies in the hospital went home.

"Never mind," said Bad Martha's father. "The nurses will have more time for Martha now."

But Bad Martha screamed more and more and more and looked meaner and angrier and uglier and the head nurse and the baby nurses and the student nurses and the cooks andthe cleaners and the gardeners all went home.

Then the doctors said, "We're not going to stay here with all that noise and no one to help us!"

And the doctors all went home.
