 Ups and downs
November was a very up and down month here. The film news is getting very
exciting - there've been offers from several companies, and when we've
decided which will be best, the paperwork will be signed and I can tell you
who will make Nim's Island, the movie! However the most interesting part has
been working with Paula Mazur the producer, and a script writer, to start
working on the screen play. Can you imagine how much fun it is to go back
and play with the characters and story that have been locked up in a book
for the last few years? Of course film has to show us things in a very
different way than a book tells the same story, and I am learning to look at
it all from many different angles. I feel very lucky!
The sad part of life has been that our dachshund Max died three weeks ago. I
get so many letters asking about my pets that I decided I would tell you
about this, because it's something that everyone who has a pet has to go
through at some time. It's dreadfully sad, but I'm remembering the wonderful
times we had together, because the joy of knowing him for nearly twelve
years is much greater than the sorrow of missing him now.
And now it's December, with Christmas approaching and Australian summer
already here...
