 First day of winter
First day of winter in Australia, and this morning a cloud has settled down
on top of our hill. It's quite beautiful, with the big gum trees looming
dark through the mist, and the green of the smaller trees near the house and a very appropriate day to go on with the rewriting of Spook's Shack. After a very productive meeting with my publisher and editor I suddenly saw a major change I wanted to make and decided to rewrite it completely! I was so excited about this change I had trouble sleeping the first night now I've worked out a better method, where I sleep at night so I can write during the day...
Luckily my publisher was understanding and agreed to delay its publication I believe it will now be February 2003 instead of September 2002.
Of course the other projects I started while Spook's Shack was with the
editor, have now been put aside again, but I'm sure they'll go on growing in
those dark spaces at the back of my mind, and will be even more ready to
write when I can come back to them.
So I'm hoping June will be a quiet, hard work month, with just the
excitement of packing and preparing for our big trip but more of that next
month...
